Hi Mel, whilst I applaud your attitude of staying positive I don't think there is any harm in calling the rheumy nurse - I really don't think you you have to accept feeling that rough. Good luck with everything - you have always been so honest on the forum about what you are going through and what you are facing and I sincerely hope it works out for you. Jo Smile

Hi Mel - so sorry to hear about arthur on the rampage. I think it's worth considering the anti-inlammatories - they really help the pain for me. Hope the GP is nice to you.

Hi Mel

I am so sorry that your are feeling poorly. I agree I would have a chat with your rheumy nurse. You need some sort of proper management plan whilst you wait to try and conceive. Do not give up on your dreams of having a child. I am sure there are many people who have been in a similar situation and I am sure your just need lots of support both medically and emotionally over the next few months. You may just be having a flare that you would have had whether you had changed your medication or not.

Keep positive and make sure you get some support.

Thinking of you.

Jackie

Dear Mel,

I think you should ask the nurse/GP what they think you should take to tide you over as 9mths is such a long while to wait and even then the TTC stage is an unknown time too. Being in this much pain for that long is very unfair and will make you feel very ill indeed.

The RA needs to be in better control so you may have to resort to beginning a new DMARD? How about Azithroprine? Or SLZ......

Perhaps another depo jab?

Praying for you and your health.

Amanda

ThumpUp Smile Thankyou all
amanda,barbs yep.
Beeb to see my own regular Gp today a very postive appointment gave me double slot of time.
left feeling very relieved and well cared for.

right

new meds
sun cream factor 50 for lupus trial run if no good change asap.
naproxen for inflammtion 500mg

got to call rheumy nurse for claification re 6 or 9 months before start ttc wants that confirmed from rheumy not some senior doctor.

also said folic acid im on is more than enough so thats no change.
the tooth infection she declares is deficntely making things flare up.

yes to rest,balacing things out.

see how i go on naproxen it helped before, use laptop not pc to lesson tennis elbow.

looked at my knees small amount fluid if naproxen doesnt lower that rheumy nruse must add low dose steriods tablets.
but not yet .

went onto to discuss whom i can see at surgey terms of lupus, turns out she herself is now head lady gp and had patient with sle same me whos had problem free pregancy so asked me what rheumy sais and explained hes actauuly giving me wrost scenrio noit to let them scare me and always tell eh whats een said.
wow i felt clamer after that.
it will be a wait and see if sle or ra or both are to be problem but to early say yet.

also need give planequil more time to work.

the plan is to do blood test in june at 3 months after no mtx to see how much inflammtion after couple months on nsaid, plus extra plaequil.

ive got to buy large wrap round sunglasses and big hat.
to protect me from sun.

keep using e45 on skin.

a very through deatiled appointment.

so been chemist got all medication and now home tired.

barbs sorry see you ahd no internet yesterday tis fine hun reply when can no rush.oh and if no appointment by tomorrow ring kings again re tooth treatment.

lovely doctor .

she was to say least cross other doc wouldnt give suncream, they will be dealt with asap.
and also not happy 9 months without very good reason.

thinks it may be due to lupus,ra not being under control enough but needs it clarified.

Hi Mel,

Sounds like you had a very constructive appointment today. That's exactly what you need if you're trying so hard to stay positive. Personally, I take my hat off to you ... I think it takes enormous courage to take this big step knowing how bad you're going to feel.

I hope you have lots of success with the naproxen and that your suffering eases!

Joanna thank you youve really touched me alot such kindness
your s right i ahd to take big courage in making this choice, not knowing if lupus will become more proble is a risk as is what ra may do or not.
but gp encouraged me to see things in lighter way.
and was pleased i still belong to nras and that i joined lupus uk.

feeling such pain sweling sill abscess still waiting on hospiatl to get me in for treatment.
oh gp was dead pleased imdoing my maths, english courses.
said i can even drop note if things not good and she will send me out form for bloods earlier if needed.

so i shall be staing at same gp for now.

lot stiffness,pain,grr.

said she knew all along lupus aswell as ra but needed consultant to agree.

feeling rather teary tnogiht grr.

Hi Mel, I'm glad your GP was so thorough. I'm not surprised you felt a bit teary - it may have been because it was such a relief that someone actually listened to you and seems to understand what you are going through and the pain that you are in. I find the Naproxyn really helpful and hope they help you too. Think it's about 'red boots' time with the tooth problem - I hope you manage to get an appointment soon. Hope you manage to have a restful day.

Oh sorry I hadn't realised about the SLE and the SLZ....

Hope the Naproxen helps but take lots of stomach protectors, maybe try Slippery Elm powder.

Love,

Amanda

Hi Melly Just been reading your posts, hope you're starting to feel a bit better. I've just found out I have SLE and have been on presnidrone for about a month now and my joints are feeling much better apart from my rubbish knees! I'm still feeling hot and ill at night though, my rheumatologist is very positive about us trying ivf again in a few months I really hope they same is true for you ttc, opinions seem to really vary. I've also been given factor 50 lotion but I don't know if i'm sunsensitive. Have you been advised to wear long sleeve shirts long skirts? I'm really hoping it won't be too different to normal sensible sun protection (I'm a redhead so I usually wear hats and long sleeves in the summer). Have you been to the lupus pregnancy clinic at st Thomas's I'm trying to see them for advice, as they're supposed to excellent? Glad your staying so positive, I will try to take a leaf out of your book!
Ps sorry if I'm asking too many questions!!

Hi Melly

I find Naproxen really good for dampening inflammation so hope it works for you.

A tough time for you but you will get there. You are a really strong person who takes everything in her stride. Stay positive you are now in a much better position and there is light at the end of what has been a long dark tunnel. Most of all get loads of rest whenever you can; it's amazing how the body can repair itself with the right ingredients.

Thinking about you Melly,
